At smilogy it works like this:

Your dentist completes your check-up.

At checkout, we swipe your health fund card through HICAPS.

Your fund confirms your benefit in real time.

You pay only the gap between the fee and your fund’s benefit.

There’s no paperwork to post or upload afterwards. Just bring your health fund membership card.

Will your health fund cover a check-up?

If your extras policy includes general or preventive dental, your fund may contribute to your check-up and clean. How much you get back depends on your fund, your level of cover, any waiting periods and your annual limits. We can give you the item numbers so you can check with your fund before your visit. Most major Australian health funds are HICAPS-enabled. More details are on our private health cover page.

What is the Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS)?

The CDBS is an Australian Government program that helps eligible children and teenagers get basic dental care. According to Services Australia, a child may be eligible in a calendar year if, for at least one day that year:

they’re aged 0 to 17

they’re eligible for Medicare

you or they get an eligible government payment at least once that year

Eligible children can receive a capped amount of benefits over two consecutive calendar years. Services Australia lists what’s covered, which includes check-ups, X-rays, cleaning, fissure sealing, fillings, root canals and extractions. CDBS doesn’t cover orthodontic work, cosmetic dental work or dental services in hospital. The benefit cap is indexed each year, so check the current amount and your child’s eligibility directly with Services Australia.

Using CDBS at smilogy

CDBS is accepted at both smilogy clinics for eligible children.
